Two Students Awarded Prestigious $10,000 DeBartolo Scholarship
Congratulations to Sara Horn and Jaylee Laster on being named recipients of the esteemed $10,000 Edward J. DeBartolo Scholarship!
The Edward J. DeBartolo Scholarship Foundation was established in 1998 by Edward J. DeBartolo, Jr. and Denise DeBartolo York in honor of their father, Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr. A visionary real estate developer and entrepreneur, Mr. DeBartolo was widely known as the father of the American shopping mall. In 1977, he purchased the San Francisco 49ers—an organization that remains under the leadership of the DeBartolo and York family today.
The foundation’s mission is to support students in the Mahoning Valley who have demonstrated a strong work ethic, a commitment to their community, and the determination to overcome adversity. Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr. believed that all students—regardless of their financial background—should have the opportunity to pursue higher education if they have the drive and dedication to succeed.
After graduation, Sara plans to pursue a degree in education, and Jaylee will be studying to become a dental hygienist.
Sara, Jaylee, and fellow scholarship recipients were recognized at a special luncheon on Monday in celebration of their achievements.

🌱 Kindergarten has been growing with the help of Churchill United Methodist Church! 🌱
Volunteers from the church visited our classrooms to talk about seeds and what plants need to grow. Students completed a fun planter craft and even planted some grass seed—now they’re eagerly waiting for the crazy green “hair” to sprout! 😄
The best part? Our new friends from Churchill UMC will return after spring break to continue growing with us! 💚
