Next Tuesday and Wednesday, 4/1 and 4/2, we will begin state testing at the 7-12 building. ONLY students testing will report by 7:25. All other students will report by 9:30. All 7th, 8th and those enrolled in ELA2 (mainly 10th) will be testing.

Lukas McCoy, a career specialist with Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates (JOG), has collaborated with Liberty students, staff, and families over the past year on career-focused in-school programs. These initiatives aim to equip teens and young adults in Northeast Ohio with essential job and life skills. Last week, Lukas and several JOG-enrolled students traveled to Akron to participate in the JOG-hosted Career Development Conference. There, they competed against JOG students from other schools in career competency areas such as interview skills, decision-making, prepared speaking, financial literacy, and more. As the school year comes to a close, JOG students will begin preparing for the CCMEP (Comprehensive Case Management and Employment) Summer Work Experience. This program provides paid work opportunities for youth aged 16 and older in various fields of interest. Participants can work up to 20 hours per week, earning a competitive wage with opportunities for additional monetary incentives. 📢 Future Leaders in the Making! 🚀🔍 On Wednesday, March 19, our Liberty second graders took an exciting field trip to TCTC, where they explored the world of careers and learned how people work to earn money! 💼✨ From cosmetology 💇‍♀️ to landscape design 🌿, drones & aviation ✈️, vet science 🐾, fire & EMS 🚒, interactive media 🎨, and dental assisting 🦷, our students had hands-on experiences that sparked curiosity about their future paths. Our 3rd graders were thrilled to receive special cards and new water bottles from their YSU pen pals! 💌💙 This meaningful program helps students develop social and writing skills through journal exchanges with honors students. One student even shared, “My card almost made me cry happy tears!” 🥹✨ Liberty is proud to be part of the Dr. Abdu Pen Pals Program, named in honor of Dr. Rashid Abdu—a dedicated tutor and local surgeon. This initiative connects young learners with college mentors, fostering meaningful connections through writing. 🌟 Liberty High School students had an amazing experience today participating in their first TILT Day! 🌟 The Tressel Institute for Leadership and Teamwork (TILT) brought 15 students and staff from YSU to lead our students in three engaging teamwork activities. Each activity was followed by reflection questions to help our students dive deeper into the experience. Every YSU volunteer shared how impressed they were with our students' enthusiasm and participation throughout the activities. We’re so proud of our Liberty Leopards! 🐾
