Schwartz Family

On Friday, September 5, Liberty Local Schools and the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley welcomed Barbara and Stanley Schwartz, along with more than 70 members of their family, for a special day of volunteering in honor of the couple’s 60th wedding anniversary.

Barbara, a proud Liberty graduate, and Stanley were married in Youngstown 60 years ago. To mark this milestone, they chose to celebrate by giving back to the school district that helped shape their lives.

Planning for the celebration began over a year ago when the family reached out to the United Way to connect with Liberty Schools and identify meaningful ways to contribute. The Schwartz family spent the day working across both school buildings, reading to students, installing an outdoor classroom, planting a commemorative tree, planting shrubs, and laying mulch.

“We are truly honored that the Schwartz family chose Liberty Local Schools as the place to celebrate such an important milestone,” said Superintendent Brian Knight. “This act of service not only leaves a lasting impact on our schools but also shows our students the power of giving back to the community.”
