Liberty students' artwork featured in local exhibit

Unity Tree

For the second year in a row, the artwork of students at Liberty’s PK-6 school has been featured in a local art exhibit.  Students in Marge Bacich’s classes created the ‘Friendship is a Sheltering Tree’ mural for the VPA Unity Project.  The VPA Unity Project symbolizes "building unity" through the collaborative painting process. Liberty Local Schools is one of seven districts that participates in the project.  VPA Unity Project is driven by a collective unified vision or message by students and features the work of each and every visual art student in the building led by their art teacher. The paintings are accompanied by poignant quotes regarding unity provided by the students, which were collected during the creative process. This year’s theme was “Unity Through Nature”.

You can see Liberty’s artwork on display January 11, 2020 - February 9, 2020, at Fellows Riverside Gardens.  There is a reception on January 11, 2020 beginning at 1 p.m. at Fellows Riverside Garden.  From March 18, 2020 - April 8, 2020, the community art exhibit will be on display at The Youngstown Main Public Library.  On April 25, it will move to YSU’s Federal Frenzy.

East High School will host “VPA Celebrate the Arts!” performance at 5 p.m. on April 29, 2020.  Chaney High School will host the same performance at 5 p.m. on May 7, 2020.  Admission is free to both events.
