Letter from Dr. Tommelleo: COVID-19 Procedural Updates

Update

Hello families,

As we all adjust to our new routines this school year, I wanted to let you know that we are continually evaluating our protocols and procedures related to mitigating the spread of COVID-19.  We have a few updates that I would like to pass along to you.

First, in keeping with recommendations from the Trumbull County Health Department, Liberty Local Schools has updated its Return to School After an Illness Procedures.  We understand that symptoms of COVID-19 are also symptoms of other common illnesses. Students who display symptoms at school or at home that are similar to COVID-19, such as fever, will not be permitted to return to school until they are symptom free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.  

At the recommendation of the Ohio Department of Health, our district has also named a COVID-19 Coordinator.  As the Interim-Superintendent, I will facilitate the reporting of our district’s COVID-19 case information.  Students, parents/guardians of students, and school staff who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, whether by laboratory test or through clinical examination, are asked to notify me by calling 330-759-0807 no later than 24 hours after receiving a confirmed diagnosis.  

Also at the recommendation of the Ohio Department of Health, we have established a COVID-19 Dashboard on our website to keep our families informed of the number of positive COVID-19 cases and the number of students and staff isolated or quarantined.  You can find the COVID-19 Dashboard under the “District” tab on our website or by clicking here.
