Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! This will be my 18th year teaching, and my sixth year teaching 4th grade at E. J. Blott. I love teaching math and science. It's such a joy to find creative and fun ways to help my students understand all of the new concepts they are expected to master by the end of the year.
I graduated from YSU with my B.A. in English in 1998 and then went on to get my teaching degree, which I completed in 2001. I have also earned my Masters in Education from Kent State.
I began my teaching career in 2001 as a second grade teacher at Warren Alden Elementary before transferring to Liberty in 2002 to teach reading and math as a Title 1 teacher. I was a member of the Title 1 team for 9 years, learning how to help students who needed that extra "boost" to succeed. I was able to take all of the strategies I had learned into my own classroom when I was moved to third grade in 2011. Two years later, a position opened in 4th grade to teach math and science. While I was reluctant to leave my wonderful team of third grade friends, I was excited at the prospect of being able to concentrate my energy and time in teaching my favorite two subjects! Fourth grade is my niche!
On a more personal note, I've been married to my caring husband, Lionel, for 14 years. We have three beautiful children who keep us incredibly busy! Our daughter, Sadie, is 11 and in sixth grade this year. Luca is 8, and he is in third grade. Landon, our last little sweetie, turned 3 this summer.
