My name is Hilari Lipkin. I live and teach in Liberty. I have been teaching for 38 years. I have taught kindergarten through 6th grade, including gifted and talented and computer education. My undergraduate degree is from the State University College at New Paltz, New York. I hold a bachelor's degree in Psychology with my curriculum being early childhood education. I have a Master's degree in Reading Suupervision from Youngstown State University. My education background is very different. I studied open classroom education with an emphasis on Piaget. I was taught to teach to the whole child - academic, physical, and emotional. Affective education is a must. I also meditate and have been a meditator for 42 years. We begin each day with meditation and yoga in my classroom. I am also know as the quitar lady from past students. There is always at least 1 guitar in my classroom.
Both of my children attended school in Liberty. My son was captain of the football and basketball team. My daughter was captain of the tennis team. Both children went on to graduate from THE Ohio State University. My husband of 35 years is the current Executive Vice President of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation. We are both very involved in Liberty and our community. It is our home.
